MarlLa
Marlla Araùjo , 28-year-old transgender woman from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a performer and choreographer. She graduated from the dance training program at Núcleo 2 of the Escola Livre de Dança da Maré. She has contributed to health promotion through Rap da Saúde in collaboration with the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Health Department and pursued a dance teacher studies at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Marlla has participated in significant artistic exchanges at the Centre National de la Danse in Paris and La Manufacture school in Lausanne.
Her international experience includes dancing in Maguy Marin's "May B" in France, performing at the Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, the 220 Volts festival in Porto, and her solo at the Autumn Festival in Paris. She holds a bachelor's degree in dance from P.A.R.T.S and a master's program in choreography at the same institution. She is also part of the Brussels Ballroom Voguing scene and she also leads Twerk and Improvisation workshops.
Her work deeply explores physicality, body endurance, queer phenomenology, and the interplay of political-personal and social contexts through performance. She is committed to creating narratives that blend fiction and reality, offering fresh perspectives for the future.
